•  Capable of: Grinding dies, tools, plates, base fixtures for precision assemblies, Achieving tight tolerances (±0.01 mm) and smooth surface finishes (Ra 0.8–1.6 µm), Understands depth of cut, wheel dressing, coolant application, and surface flatness
•  Operates conventional center lathe machines, Performs: Turning, facing, threading, grooving, drilling, boring, Machining of bushes, shafts, sleeves, and tooling components, Manages chuck settings, tool post adjustments, and tailstock alignment
•  Reads 2D mechanical drawings: Part dimensions, tolerances, chamfers, thread details, and surface finishes, Understands GD&T symbols, especially for parts requiring grinding post-turning, Uses: Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates,  Dial indicators and bore gauges for shaft and hole accuracy, Checks cylindricity, parallelism, and flatness after grinding/turning
•  Selects appropriate: Grinding wheels (types, grits, bonds) based on material,Cutting tools, inserts, and speeds/feeds for lathe operations
•  Sets jobs correctly with independent or self-centering chucks, fixtures, and clamps
•  Performs: Routine checks and lubrication, Wheel dressing, coolant level checks, and safe tool handling, Maintains 5S discipline around machines
•  Familiar with: Mild steel (MS), tool steel, EN-series, aluminum,  Machinability, grinding characteristics, and heat sensitivity
•  Maintains logs: Job setup records, tool usage, and machine hours, Rejection or rework reports if tolerances are not met
•  Follows safety procedures for: Wheel mounting, lathe chuck tightening, and workpiece handling, Uses PPE: goggles, gloves, safety shoes, and aprons
•  Coordinates with: Toolroom, QA team, and production planners
•  Delivers jobs on time, with quality, and supports continuous improvement
